Who Counselling Can Help

Offering guidance and support through life’s challenges.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You might be experiencing:

  • Stress, burnout, or work-related pressure

  • Anxiety, low mood, or intrusive thoughts

  • Relationship difficulties or recurring conflict

  • Loss, bereavement, or life transitions

  • Challenges with self-esteem or confidence

Sometimes, you may not be sure exactly why counselling could help, and simply want to explore your options. Others may be referred by a GP, friend, or family member. Counselling can also support you in managing the physical effects of stress and anxiety, such as tension, headaches, palpitations, or breathlessness.

How Counselling Works

Finding Clarity, At Your Own Pace.

Counselling isn’t about being told what to do, it’s about creating a safe, calm space to slow down, make sense of your feelings, and begin to understand what’s really happening beneath the surface. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and choices at a pace that feels right for you.

Each session gives you the time to talk openly, without judgment. I may offer gentle reflections or guidance, always with respect for your perspective. Over time, counselling can help you feel clearer, more in control, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges.

What Happens in a Session

  • We meet in a calm, confidential space, either in person or online.

  • You share what’s on your mind, at your own pace.

  • We explore patterns, feelings, and behaviours to uncover insights.

  • We'll discuss practical strategies to manage stress, emotions, or challenges.

  • All sessions are flexible and tailored to your needs and goals.

Answers to Common Questions

Everything you need to know before your first session.

It’s natural to have questions before starting counselling. From what to expect in your sessions to how appointments work, this section covers the essentials to help you feel informed, reassured, and ready to take the next step.

What is Counselling and what can I expect?

Counselling is a supportive process to explore your emotions, gain perspective, and develop coping strategies. Every session is confidential, client-focused, and designed to help you feel understood.

How can Counselling help?

It can help you manage anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, life transitions, and other emotional challenges. Many clients find that even a few sessions create noticeable relief and clarity.

When can I start?

You can begin counselling as soon as you’re ready. A free 30-minute consultation is available for individuals to discuss your needs before committing.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies. Some people benefit from a few sessions; others may choose longer-term support. We will discuss what’s right for you.

How much does it cost and how long is each session?

  • Individuals: £65 per one-hour session (includes time for discussion and arranging future sessions).

  • Couples: £95 per 1¼ hour session.

Where do sessions take place?

In-person at my office in Chandlers Ford, or online from anywhere that is convenient for you.

Is Couples Counselling Right for You?

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit. Couples counselling helps at all stages, whether you’re facing ongoing difficulties or simply want to deepen your connection. Many couples say they wish they had started sooner. Sessions provide tools to communicate better, rebuild trust, and strengthen your relationship in a supportive, nonjudgmental space.

Do both partners need to attend every session?

Ideally, both partners attend each session so we can work together on communication, understanding, and connection. However, if there are times when one partner cannot attend, we can discuss how to adapt the session so that it still supports your progress.

Will our sessions be confidential?

Yes. Everything you share in sessions is confidential, within the bounds of professional and legal requirements. Confidentiality helps create a safe space where both partners can be open and honest.

Can counselling help if we’re not sure about staying together?

Absolutely. Couples counselling isn’t just for relationships in crisis; it can help you explore your feelings, understand your patterns, and make informed decisions about your future. Even if you’re uncertain about staying together, therapy can provide clarity, support, and tools to communicate more effectively.
